Golden Ragwort is an incredibly adaptable ground cover, growing from full sun to full shade, and from dry to wet soils. It produces yellow flowers in the beginning of spring that serve as an early food source for pollinators. They put on quite a show when planted en masse. The basal leaves are semi-evergreen, providing protection to the soil and shelter for insects and small animals through the winter.

Deer generally leave Golden Ragwort alone, allowing it to spread via rhizomes and seeds. To be clear, it can be aggressive, and if planted in a small, tidy garden, it can quickly become an issue. Plant this in larger, more natural areas, where it has room to spread. It's a great choice for spots where nothing else seems to grow, and it can even be used to combat invasive plants like garlic mustard and Japanese stiltgrass.
