Do you sell any cultivars?

We have decided not to sell cultivars at this time in favor of straight species. By growing genetically unique plants, we hope to promote genetic diversity within our local ecotypes. Many cultivars are also trademarked, making it more complicated and expensive for us to sell.

Where do you source your seeds / plants?

We strive to source our seeds and plants from local sources, including sustainably harvested wild seeds, local gardens, and local seed vendors. However, this can be limiting or impractical at times, and we will purchase seeds from larger seed vendors in order to provide a wider selection.

Where do you sell your plants? Can I visit your nursery?

At this time, we are growing our plants from our homes and are unable to invite people to visit. As we get established, we intend to sell at annual plant sales and farmers markets. We also hope to put on a couple of sales in the spring and fall each year. Finally, you can always contact us directly if you are interested in purchasing plants throughout the year. Our inventory is on our website, and we try to update it regularly.

FAQ

Do you have any deer resistant plants?

It really depends on your location and its deer population. We have found that the deer within Lexington city limits may eat many plants labeled as 'deer resistant,' while deer in the county will leave those same plants alone. We recommend protecting new transplants with either cages or deer repellent for at least the first year so that they can get established. That said, deer will not eat grasses or ferns, and most plants in the mint family will be fine (i.e. Monarda, Mountain Mint, Hyssop, etc.).

Can you visit my home to help me select appropriate plants?

While we want to help you select the best plants for your space, we do not offer site visits or design services at this time. Please contact us with any questions about the plants we sell, or ask us questions in person at one of our sales. We will also happily recommend gardening and landscape design services within Rockbridge county.
